All participants have been determined for the PUBG Global Championship 2021. Can NA repeat as champions in the face of stiff European and Asian competition?
With the conclusion of the regional PUBG Continental Series 5 this weekend, all teams have been determined for thePUBG Global Championship 2021.The event will take place in Asia, with teams not already in the region flying to play in an arena in Korea. The month-long event will go through multiple stages to determine an overall champion, and begins on November 19th. We give a list of the teams attending PGC 2021 and a brief rundown of each region’s storylines and best hopes.
PGC 2021 kicks off on November 19 with the return of SUPER Scoring system

North America:
Latin America:
In a turn of events that North American esports fans won’t be used to, NA enters PGC 2021 as the reigning World Champions. North America excelled at PGI.S, with Soniqs and Zenith taking first and second overall. Both rosters are returning - Zenith having been signed by Dignitas - alongside other exciting talent.
TSM FTX and Oath both also attended PGI.S, but didn’t perform quite to the same level as their regional counterparts. Oath in particular come in looking to change that, though, having firmly established themselves as one of the best teams in the region. They finally have a major trophy under their belt, after their PCS5 win, and will look to keep the momentum going.
Latin America is also well represented with FIUMBA. The powerhouse roster kept pace with the best in North America, and even if they weren’t guaranteed a regional seed, would have qualified based on points. Nahuel “SzylzEN” Balseiro in particular has been a huge talent, and will look to lead LATAM to new heights this event.

It will beChinaleading the way for East Asia heading into PGC, with Petrichor Road and Multi Circle Gaming coming off a 1-2 performance at PCS5. PeRo in particular have looked like the best team in the world in the latter half of 2021, and should be a favourite to win the whole event. NewHappy couldn’t quite find their international form after their impressive regional win, but still have huge potential.
PUBG esports and streaming banned in China
PUBG is facing a comprehensive ban on esports and streaming in China, spelling disaster for the PUBG Global Championship and the esports scene as a whole.
Shawn “Germanicus” Heerema
Korea will be sending an interesting group of rosters this year. Perennial favourites Gen.G lead the way, with an exciting young Danawa squad hot on their heels. GHIBLI and MaD Clan both have shown potential, while Veronica7 have one of the most unique stories in esports right now. Just how far can their ragtag roster - assembled out of free agents just a week before PCS5 - take it?
EU West:

Europe has been one of the most interesting regions to follow as of late. Older, experienced talent has mostly been concentrated on some big-name teams. FaZe Clan and Team Liquid firmly fit this first category. Both come in as absolutely deadly sides, and with a wealth of international and LAN experience.
On the other hand, a lot of new talent has been coming in to the region and shaking up the scene. Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, and Heroic are all examples of this. For quite a few of these players, it’ll be their first time playing internationally. VP in particular have been tearing up Europe for a while - they attended PGI.S, but without their full lineup due to visa issues. A full-strength Virtus.pro is a scary sight for any team to match up against.
Phillippines:
Oceania:
APAC is sporting a solid cast of teams heading into PGC 2021. Typically the poorest-performing region, they’ll look for some redemption this year off the back of two very solid Vietnamese representatives.
Bao Nam United and Unicorn Phoenix Da Nang were clearly the two best teams at PCS5 APAC. UNP won the first two weeks - including an 89-kill demolition of the lobby in week one - while BN placed fourth, second, and second again to ultimately take home the overall win.
As for the other teams, Oceania’s FURY will be hoping to make some noise as their region’s sole representative, while Buriram United failed to even qualify for PCS5 after winning PCS4. They’ll need to turn that form around to find success on the world stage.
