Viola Davis, 58, is sharing her affection for her daughter on National Daughters Day.

The actress posted a sweet carousel of photos featuring her and her daughter, Genesis Tennon, on Instagram, Monday, in celebration of the fun holiday.

Davis shares Genesis, 13, with actor/producerJulius Tennon, who she’s been with for over two decades after meeting on the set of the CBS seriesCity of Angelsin 1999. In 2011, the couple adopted Genesis.

On the subject of motherhood,Davis told PEOPLE in 2017, “I wanted my life to mean and be something deeper. That’s when the urge came, and the urge was just very, very, very, strong. So I have a kid now, and she is just the light of our lives.”

Earlier this month,Davis revealedthat she’d taken a step back from her recent role in the upcoming action filmG20due to the writer’s strike, with the star tellingDeadline, “I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike. I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA and the WGA.”
