There are six new heroes in early development now available in Deadlock after this huge patch that will change the meta.
A massive Deadlock patch dropped this Thursday, Oct. 24 and there’s a lot to unpack.
The main takeaway is the introduction of a new mode called Hero Labs, in which players can help test new heroes. For now, there are six new heroes — Holliday, Calico, Wrecker, Fathom, Viper and Magician — and Hero Labs is available only for two hours: 9 p.m. to 11 p.m, for those with at least 50 games played.
The goal behind Hero Labs is to invite Deadlock players so they can give feedback to hero design while these heroes are still in early development and pretty much everything can change. Most of the heroes will have placeholder names and models, so attempt to not fall in love with them!
This Deadlock patch completely caught the community by surprise asValve introduced Ranked mode to Deadlockearlier this month on Oct. 15, and released anew Deadlock hero called Mirageat the end of September.
All in all, this patch is great news for every Deadlock players, especially those who also play Valve’s popular shooter CS2. The CS2 player base is always complaining about how Valve doesn’t hear their requests, so it’s awesome that everyone can get involved in the creation of new heroes in Deadlock.
And, Hero Labs isn’t the only reason why this new Deadlock patch is massive. The developers fixed tons of bugs, and made balance changes to heroes and items.
While some heroes got buffed in this Deadlock patch, others were hit with the ban hammer. From what it looks, Shiv will definitely be a less viable hero from now onwards, unless Valve gives him some love again.
With all the balance changes we got, we’re looking at an entirely new meta in Deadlock and thus all players will have to update their builds.
