In 2023, Someone became theOverwatch League MVPin theOverwatch League Grand Finals. Mer1t fought by his side under the Florida Mayhem flag. After the league ended, the two players joined team F16 Esports to compete in Saudi eLeague 2023. Rupal is also another Toronto Defiant player who once played alongside Someone and Mer1t under Florida Mayhem.

Meanwhile, Sugarfree previously played for Timeless alongside Rupal and Vega. Currently, he’s the youngest player on a pro Overwatch 2 team. As for Vega, he brings the support game to Toronto Defiant after his experience in multiple teams such as Timeless itself, Northwood University, Saints, and more.

Rupal is the common denominator here. When Florida Mayhem won the 2023 Overwatch League Grand Finals, he spoke at length with esports.gg about the virtues of strong teamwork. Revealed today for the start of OWCS, team FTG sport a number of Overwatch League names and a reunion from the Houston Outlaws.

As Toronto Defiant players now, Someone, Mer1t, Sugarfree, Rupal, and Vega will compete under a new format and train in OverActive Media’s Toronto esports facility.
