Screamis a massive franchise, with 6 films,a television series, board games, and countless other media associated with it. The films have amassed over $900 million in box office revenue. It was recently rebooted for a modern audience, and fans and critics loved it. So far, there’s been no announcement of a video game spin off, which is surprising as the gaming world is full of horror content.
There have been discussions for years about turning Scream into a video game, and there’s been a few limited games for mobile phones during promotion for the films. However, nothing has released on major consoles. There are many reasons why aScreamgame would be a good idea, and fans have a long list of things they’d want to see from it.

10Ghostface
WhatScreamgame would exist without Ghostface? But the context in which Ghostface features in the game is key. Fans don’t want to be limited to being chased around by the iconic masked killer, which could get boring. Gamers want to BE Ghostface.Scream 6saw the introduction of the shrine into the universe. This would be an interesting main menu if players can choose whichGhostface they wanted in the shrine. This could even alllow for a multiplayer option in which one player is Billy Loomis and the other player is Stu Macher, for instance.

Upon choosing a Ghostface iteration, the game begins. The player could also pick from a choice of weapons that feature in the shrine, like Billy’s blood congealed knife, to take on their murderous spree. The possibilities are endless.
9Stu’s House
One of the most iconic aspects of the original film was Stu’s house, which features in the epic conclusion to the movie. If a video game spinoff materialized, gamers could go on a tour of the house, as well as chasing Sidney Prescott around it.
During the press forScream 5, a mobile game appeared online where players could go on a tour of Stu’s house and try to avoid Ghostface at every turn. It was basic, but good fun. A proper video game could take this experience to the next level, and it would blow fans' minds. The developers could use a VR interactive option for fans as movement around the house, and it would be just as immersive as seeing the original slasher movie on the big screen.

A potentialScreamvideo game wouldn’t be the first time Ghostface has appeared in the gaming world.Dead by Daylightintroduced the iconic killer into their game, to the delight of fans. The story behind his appearance is that Ghostface’s real identity is Danny Johnson, a narcissistic newspaper journalist who covers Ghostface murders by day and commits them by night.
One possibility could involve Danny Johnson crossing over into theScreamvideo game universe and unleashing hell in it. Imagine him going head-to-head with Gale Weathers to get the latest scoop on the Ghostface killings, then the two facing off against each other as final girl and killer respectively.

7Trope Subversion
When it came out in 1996,Screamdeconstructed the slasher genre and introduced it to a new generation of fans. It acted as an ironic send up of all the tropes and features of slasher movies that came before it.
IfScreamwas to be made into a video game, it would be a very entertaining slasher game. it could also act as a commentary on where the horror gaming genre is right now. There are a plethora of horror games out there competing to be the best and the goriest.Screamneeds to come along and break all the rules like it did with the film series.

6Original & Core 4 Team Up
A game version has to appeal to different generations of fans of the franchise. There’s no better way to do this than tohave a team up of the original characters and the Core 4.

There is already a crossover and passing of the torch in the most recent films, and fans new and old loved it. In the gaming world, it would be acceptable to bring back old characters whether they are dead or alive, and have them interact with the new characters. If Billy Loomis can interact with his daughter, Sam, through her visions in the last two films, the game can feature whatever team up it wants.
5Motion Capture
Supermassive Games were responsible for two of the best horror games of the last decade, withUntil DawnandThe Quarry. If aScreamgame was to be green-lit, there’s no better company to make it than Supermassive Games. A big feature of their games is the use of motion capture to bring the likenesses of actual actors to the characters in the games.
The studio has already worked with David Arquette onThe Quarry, so it would be a thrill to see them bring Dewey Riley to life in aScreamgame. It would also be a great opportunity to reunite the whole cast of the franchise and have them reprise their roles. Fans want the characters to actually look like their favorites, and this could be the best way of doing it.

4Choices
Many current horror games revolve around choices, which could work for aScreamgame. However, the use of choices must involve the subverting of this trope. Gamers want the option of saving characters from Ghostface’s knife, especially those that didn’t survive in the films.
For example, Tatum could make her way through the cat flap instead of her neck being snapped. Instead of Dewey being stabbed multiple times and succumbing to his injuries, he could shoot Ghostface in the head and the player wins the game.

3Online Interactive Features
When a story game is completed, there’s always that mourning period afterward where gamers don’t know what to play next.Grand Theft Auto 5introduced the ultimate solution: the online interactive feature. The game continues, and players create a character and play interactively alongside other players from all around the world.
AScreamgame could follow this particular format. When the player is done with Sidney Prescott shooting Ghostface multiple times in the head, or when Ghostface has killed all his victims, head over to the online interactive game and create a character to fit into theScreamuniverse, and go cruising around Woodsboro or New York City.

2Locations
TheScreamseries has been set in four different locations over the course of six films. The original setting was Woodsboro, the sleepy town in California where the murders originally take place.Scream 2saw the core characters relocate to Windsor college in Ohio, and Hollywood is the setting ofScream 3beforeScream 4andScream 5returned to Woodsboro.

The most recent entry in the franchise moved to New York, in an exciting change for the franchise.Scream: The Gamecould give the player the opportunity to choose which location to set their adventure in. But the option to move around Woodsboro would be a dream come true for many fans. Stu’s house could be a potential VR immersive experience, but it would also be great to visit Woodsboro High and hide in Principal Himbry’s cupboard or chill out by the fountain outside the school, discussing the murders.
1Funko Games
NoScreamgame should go ahead without some involvement from Funko games, who recently released a highly entertaining board game based on theScreamfilms. The board game takes place in real time and requires 3-8 players, and requires downloading an app to take part.
The game is fun and good to play with fellow fans. However, it doesn’t quite scratch the itch of what the mega fans want: immersive video game, where the gamer gets to play as their favorite characters in theScreamworld. Here’s hoping plans are soon in place for the development of this game.
