All the way back in February of 2008, developer Ironclad Games and publisher Stardock Entertainment released a 4X Sci-Fi RTS titledSins of a Solar Empire. In Late 2022, the sequel,Sins of a Solar Empire 2went into Early Access on Epic Games Store while continuing to receive updates. Stardock and Ironclad revealed today that the full 1.0 release will be hitting Steam on August 15.
From Epic to Steam
Even though I knew about the Early Access period on Epic Games Store, I always planned to wait until it fully released out of Early Access to give the sequel a try. When it reached that period back in 2023, I was so swamped with other games I figured I’d wait until it got some post-release love to pick it up. Now that it’s getting a full red-carpet release on Steam, there’s no way I’m not jumping on it this time around.
It’s been amazing to see how hyped fans are for the release ofSins of a Solar Empire IIon Steam. We have seen so many people who were fans of the original Sins, andSins: Rebellion, sharing their excitement for this long-awaited sequel.Sins of a Solar Empire IIwill deliver epic galactic warfare and strategy to new players on Steam, and our existing players on Epic Games Store, as they will be continually supported with new content and updates. We can’t wait to share more with you and celebrate the launch ofSins of a Solar Empire IIon August 15!
In its full release,Sins of a Solar Empire 2features the same three playable factions of the original: Advent, Vasari, and TEC. Minor factions provide unique capabilities to the players that befriend them via an all-new influence system. Like the original, players can build and command thousands of unique ships to do their bidding as they wage galactic war against up to ten others in seamless multiplayer matches.
Sins of a Solar Empire 2releases onPC via Steamon August 15. It’s currently available on the Epic Games Store.
