The Big Bang Theoryneeds to move on from 1 character. Since the original series, there have been two spinoffs, with a third one on the way. However, the universe as a whole has a major problem.

Everything still revolves around one character, who is one-dimensional and frankly, annoying. Even inThe Big Bang Theory, this one character took over every single storyline without growth, leading to a lack of growth for a couple of important members of the group.

Jim Parsons' Sheldon and Kevin Sussman’s Stuart at the comic book store till in The Big Bang Theory

Since then, each spinoff has continued to revolve around this one particularThe Big Bang Theorycharacter, with one show all about him. Even when he’s not in the show, he still looms over it, and it’s somethingStuart Fails to Save the Universeneeds to fix. Otherwise, it risks holding back the new spinoff.

The Big Bang Theory Franchise Has Revolved Around Sheldon Cooper For Too Long

At first,The Big Bang Theorywas an ensemble show, allowing us the chance to get to know the entire group. Then Sheldon Cooper gained a little more popularity than the others because of his quirky ways. At first, he was fun, but then he simply took over, with everyone constantly pandering to him.

Young Sheldoncontinued the issue, bringing us the story of how Sheldon became the man we would eventually know. However, it was other characters that we wanted to learn more about and see how they connected with the canon already set inThe Big Bang Theory.

Amy and Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory “Commitment Determination”

With his constant presence feltvia the genius' worst trait inGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriagestoryline and the reminder that he’s the reasonStuart Fails to Save the Universegets started,it’s time for the franchise to drop Sheldon, allowing others to shine.

Other TBBT Characters Grew & Evolved Much More Than Sheldon

One of the biggest issues is the waySheldon didn’t grow as a character. He remained one-dimensional, consistently expecting people to do what he wanted and follow his made-up rules.

At least Penny had a chance to mature and find a new dream, whileLeonard gained confidence in his work and in himself. Howie stopped being the creepy man luring over women as he changed for Bernadette, and Amy learned how to communicate better, even if she was still awkward.

Kevin Sussman as Stuart Bloom in The Big Bang Theory mouth gape

Raj was the most underdeveloped character, but that was often because he was forgotten about since the storylines revolved around Sheldon so much. While Sheldon thanked his friends inThe Big Bang Theoryseries finale,it felt disingenuous due to the arguments just before it.

The Next Big Bang Theory Spinoff Has To Center On A Character Unrelated To Sheldon

Stuart Fails to Save the Universehas a chance to develop thisTBBTside character, and while aTBBTspinoff about Stuart can work, it can’t escape Sheldon. It’s Sheldon’s invention that causes the issue for Stuart in the first place, so this one-dimensional character continues to loom over the franchise.

It’s time forThe Big Bang Theoryuniverse to focus on characters not connected to Sheldon. When it comes to the friendship group, Raj would be the best choice, especially considering he was so underdeveloped. Not only would it be his time to shine, but a storyline could be created that doesn’t involve Sheldon at all.

Cast

The Big Bang Theory: This sitcom follows a group of socially awkward scientists and their interactions with each other and the people around them. Centered on physicists Sheldon and Leonard, the series humorously explores friendship, romance, and the quirks of life among an eclectic group of academics.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe

Stuart Bloom, the endearing yet perpetually unlucky comic book store owner from The Big Bang Theory, takes center stage in this upcoming spinoff. The series follows Stuart as he navigates new challenges, relationships, and misadventures, all while attempting (and humorously failing) to “save the universe.”
