Coming October 20
To cap off its Nintendo Direct presentation, the legendary publisher lifted the lid onSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, a brand new 2D platform adventure starring the iconic plumber and his friends. The new title will launch on Nintendo Switch on July 18, 2025.
The trailer featured what, at first, appeared to be some classic 2DSuper Marioaction, but soon gave way to an elastic and playable world, featuring growing pipes, talking flowers, lanky Goombas, a night-time mode, and various other strange phenomena. The trailer also showcased the “Wonder Flowers” — powerups that can change our hero in all manner of ways, from making him taller, to increasing his jump height, and even turning him into an elephant!
Other characters are playable, including Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Toad, and while the gameplay seems authentic to the 2DSuper Mariostyle,Super Mario Bros. Wonderlooks to play with the world and its characters in ways never before experienced, all daubed in a vibrant, “cartoon” visual style. More information will be revealed by Nintendo in the lead-up to the game’s launch on October 20.
