Cyberpunk 2077is expected to have a proper reveal at E3 2018 in June, but some details may have potentially leaked ahead of time. One of the supposedly leaked details forCyberpunk 2077is that the game will be played from the first-person perspective, standing in stark contrast to CD Projekt Red’s previous games likeThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which have been third-person experiences.
This rumor stems from a website called GamePressure, which cites an unnamed inside source at CD Projekt Red. According to GamePressure,Cyberpunk 2077will be first-person with a heavy focus on RPG elements. Even thoughCyberpunk 2077will apparently be played from a first-person perspective, that doesn’t mean that it will be a standard first-person shooter, though.

It’s worth pointing out that first-person elements have been confirmed forCyberpunk 2077for quite some time. In fact, CD Projekt Red outright said that themassive open world gamewould be a mix of first-person and third-person perspectives all the way back in 2013. However, this new report makes no mention of a third-person perspective inCyberpunk 2077, leading some to believe that the studio may have removed it to focus entirely on first-person gameplay.
Of course, it’s possible that GamePressure’s source has either misled them or simply failed to mention thatCyberpunk 2077will also have third-person gameplay. One possibility is that the game will be similar to something likeSkyrimorFallout 4, where players are able to switch between first- and third-person perspectives at will. It’s a solution that could potentially please both those who prefer first-person games as well as those who prefer third-person games.
Until CD Projekt Red is ready to share more information, fans should assume that what it previously said aboutCyberpunk 2077having both first- and third-person gameplay is still correct. IfCyberpunk 2077is featured at E3 2018 as expected, then fans should have some clarification within the next couple of months.
