Also, let Capcom know your thoughts on the game

Whether we like it or love it, the video game industry is in something of a remake enlightenment of some kind. There are, of course, somefantastic remakes and remastersout there, one of which isResident Evil 4. Not only a great game in its own right but a fantastic reimagining of what many consider to be one of the best horror titles in existence.

Since the remake was released in March of this year, Capcom’s modern take onRE4has been a rousing success. In fact, according to the developer, the game has now surpassed five million in sales. Thepress releaseon the company website says theResident Evil 4remake “provides both fans of the series and newcomers alike with a fresh gameplay experience.”

This latest milestone comes just shortly after it was announced that the game hadsold four million units. To date, theResident Evilseries has sold around 142 million copies worldwide, going back to its first entry in 1996.

What’s next?

Resident Evil 4may be the latest in a list of remakes Capcom is doing, but is it the last? In June, the studio askedwhatREfans wanted to see next, and whether anyone was interested in even more remakes. On top of that, arecent shareholder meetingsuggested the developer was not necessarily saying no to remaking spin-offResident Evilgames. Then again, they weren’t saying yes either, so it’s still up in the air.

Of course, we can’t say for certain what’s in store. We’re pretty confident in saying thatRE9is probably imminent (though we don’t have full confirmation on that yet), and it’s possible that Capcom may want to do more reimaginings in the future. A lot of fans would probably like to see an official remake ofCode Veronica, for example.
