ForPriyanka Chopra, adding husbandNick Jonas‘ last name to her own was never a question.
“I always wanted to add his name to mine because I feel like we’re becoming family, and I’m a little traditional and old school like that,” theQuanticoactress, 36, said on Tuesday, during a visit toThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “But I don’t take away my identity. He gets added to who I am.”
Chopra — who wed Jonas, 26, inan extravagant series of events in December— is wasting no time settling into married life,changing her name to “Priyanka Chopra Jonas” on Instagramdays after saying her “I dos.”
“The gravity of it, it’s like a big deal!” she told Fallon, of the name switch. “I didn’t realize it was that much of a big deal until I did it.”

Also during herTonight Showappearance, Chopra filled audiences in on the “very different” homes she and Jonas share in New York and Los Angeles.
“Nothing works in my house because I’m never in my house. So the coffee machine doesn’t work, the air conditioning makes some sounds. It’s cute, my house is beautiful, but nothing works,” she said. “And everything in Nick’s house is immaculate. Like his alarms work. My alarms never work! It’s annoying! My doorbell doesn’t work, damn it.”
“When I went in Nick’s house and started staying there, it used to make me so nervous,” she added. “His house is perfect. And my dog peed on his carpet the first day. Before he came home, I can’t tell you, I went through everything, cleaners, baking soda, scrubbing serious elbow grease, got it out, but he still noticed. He was like, ‘Was that Diana?’ ”
Jonas and Chopra officially became man and wife on Dec. 1,holding a Western weddingat theUmaid Bhawan Palacein Jodhpur. The next day, theywed again in an Indian ceremonyat the palace.
Before the wedding, the duo held a colorfulMehendi ceremony, where they both had elaborate henna designs applied to their hands, and celebrated with aSangeet, an over-the-top party with performances in honor of the couple.

And if that weren’t enough, the newlyweds toasted their nuptials at a party in North Carolina earlier this year among friends and family in the town of Belmont — where the singer’s father,Kevin Jonas, Sr., grew up and the family owns a restaurant, Nellie’s Southern Kitchen.

“It was just three days!” the new Mrs. Jonas explained, defending herself. “One Indian ceremony and one western Christian ceremony, and one day of pre-rituals — which we have in the Hindu wedding. But it was not, like … usually Indian weddings are a thousand people, at least. We only had 200, which was mostly family because both of us have giant families.”
The couple’s desire to keep their nuptials “super intimate” and “just family” did appear to cause some tension between Chopra and her mother.
“For an Indian family and an Indian wedding, [it was small] for sure,” Chopra said, joking, “My mother was so upset with me the whole time. She was like, ‘I need to have another wedding for the other 150,000 people that I know! How can I not invite my jeweler? How can I not invite my hairdresser?’ So it was a whole conversation.”
“When you have 100 people in your family … my dad’s side, my mom’s side, they have brothers, sisters, cousins, kids, it’s like a whole thing,” Chopra added.
