Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 3–or whatever the nextPvZshooter ends up being named–is skippingEA Play 2019, the company’s E3-adjacent reveal event that kicks off tomorrow morning.

Shaun Laker, the live producer onGarden Warfare 2, took to Twitter to set expectations.

While we won’t be at EA Play this year, the team is hard at work making our next PvZ Shooter great! In the meantime, look forward to a taco-filled Summer of#PvZGW2events and weekly challenges starting July 16th.pic.twitter.com/n4MWnhUgU7

Wuyang OW2 ultimate

It’s not the news I was hoping for, but I’m glad to hear a confirmation ahead of time. No need to wonder. That said, I can’t wait to see what approach the nextPlants vs. Zombiesshooter takes to stand out and reach the younger player base. We’re living in a post-Fortniteworld. Things aren’t the same.

Another vaguely-discussed title, this year’sNeed for Speed, is also sitting out EA Play 2019.
