Peacockis raising its subscription prices, effective within the next month. The streaming service from NBCUniversal currently offers a two-tier subscription option, with the lower tier costing $7.99 per month and the higher tier costing $13.99 per month. This is lower thanPeacock’s competitors, prompting an adjustment from NBCUniversal executives that will take effect sooner than you may think.
What Peacock’s Price Change Means For Subscribers & New Customers
Peacock Is No Longer A Lower-Cost Option
This $3 increase across all of Peacock’s tiers marksthe third price shift in the last three years. At the start of 2024, Peacock Premium was priced at $5.99 per month, but NBCUniversal increased the price by $2 in July. This eliminated the free, ad-supported tier that was available when Peacock launched in 2020.
Although these previous hikes kept the service at a lower subscription cost than competitors, the 2025 change officially makes Peacock Premium Plus more expensive than the basic ad-free tiers offered by Netflix, HBO Max, Paramount+, and Disney+.

To balance this out, Peacock has introduced a new tier, “Peacock Select.” This option costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year and features current ongoing seasons from NBC and Bravo, as well as a smaller selection of titles.
Our Take On Peacock’s 2025 Price Change
A Peacock Subscription Might Still Be Worth It
Peacock began as a free or low-priced alternative to established streaming services like Netflix. However, as NBCU’s offerings have become more exclusive and valuable, it’s no surprise that executives saw fit to raise the prices. However, now that Peacock subscription costs have increased by a few dollars every year,it will be interesting to see whether the service can effectively hold its own against its competitors.
Perhaps the greatest benefit to aPeacock subscriptionis access to live programming. These new prices are less expensive than traditional cable costs, but as competitors begin to focus on live streaming, it may become more difficult for Peacock to compete. Still, for quicker in-home access to movies likeWicked: For Good, myPeacocksubscription is likely to continue.
