ScreenRant: You’re also involved with the Outlander prequel. Can you share anything about that series [like] where it’s heading [or] what excites you the most about returning to that world?

Ronald D. Moore: That’s a fun one as well. That’s going to concentrate on the story of Claire’s parents and Jamie’s parents–how they got together [and] what their stories were, and it’s drawn from a lot of the material that’s already in the books. The books often digressed into various stories about each of their parents, so there was a wealth of material to draw from. But the story itself is kind of an original story and it has its own narrative and surprises along the way. I think fans of Outlander will enjoy being back in that universe again and sort of [seeing,] “Oh, that’s how that happened.” Or there’ll be things that they thought were going to happen that might happen in a different way. And so I think it’s really fun.

What Ronald D. Moore’s Comments Mean For Outlander: Blood Of My Blood

The Outlander Spinoff Has Already Demonstrated This Shift In Perspective

Moore’s comments aboutOutlander: Blood of My Bloodfurther reinforce what was revealed by the spinoff series' most recent trailer, which showed that Jamie and Claire’s parents, Julia and Henry Beauchamp, didn’t die in a car crash, as theOutlanderbooks had stated. Instead, this version of the story has the couple accidentally travel through time.

Outlander: Blood of My Bloodcan get away with such changes, sinceClaire can be considered an unreliable narratoras far as her and Jamie’s parents are concerned. As Moore stated, theOutlanderbooks explored the stories of the Beauchamps and Frasers, but it was all told through Claire’s perspective. She had heard about these characters, but only they know what really happened.

As Moore stated, the Outlander books explored the stories of the Beauchamps and Frasers, but it was all told through Claire’s perspective.

The creatives behindBlood of My Bloodare taking full advantage of this fact, exploring all the ways that Claire might have been wrong about her parents and the Frasers.Moore’s tease indicates that further twists are to be expected. Henry and Julia’s shocking survival very likely won’t be the only thing that happens “in a different way.”
