Will Trentseason 4 won’t hit the air for quite a few months, but there may be somemajor clues about one character’s storyline hidden in Karin Slaughter’s book series. While it’s clear that there have been substantial changes between the books and the ABC series,Will Trenthas been able to hitsome of the broadest strokes when it comes to the narrative.
Will himself has many of the same character traits that he does in the books, his story has looked different throughout the series' trio of seasons. Asviewers have noticed the stark differences in someWill Trentcharacters, the way they’ve moved from page to screen have been telling. WithSlaughter’s books beingWill Trent’sblueprint, there may be clues in the text about upcoming storylines.

Angie’s Character Has Drastically Changed From Page To Screen
She’s Much Darker In The Will Trent Books
In the pages of Slaughter’sWill Trentseries,Angie Polaski is an entirely different character. While she and Will share a similar backstory to the versions of the characters shown on screen, the Angie in the books is a far darker part of Will’s life. Shown to be more abrasive and somewhat abusive,Angie’s changed tremendously on screen versus what’s on the page.
While Angie has some difficult qualities onWill Trent, they’re nothing compared to the version of her in the books. Within the pages of Slaughters' series, Angie cheats on Will, uses emotionally stunted manipulation tactics to keep him in her life, andthroughout the books finds herself regressing from any progress she’s made in her own journey to heal past trauma.

Thankfully, the version of Angie portrayed by Erika Christensen on the show is vastly more palatablethan the character’s book persona. While Angie and Will’s relationship is still toxic in ways on screen,Angie’s been shown to be far more redeemablethan in the book series. Thankfully, Angie’s character was softened, and potentially mixed with another book character on screen.
Angie’s Storyline Seems To Be Borrowing From Faith’s Arc In Karin Slaughter’s Books
Her Pregnancy Has Some Wondering About What’s Next
WithWill Trentseason 3leaving off seeing Angie pregnant with Dr. Seth McDale’s (Scott Foley) baby, her character was sent reeling as she understood that her life was about to change intensely. ThoughAngie seemed ready for the idea of being pregnant, becoming a parent after her upbringing and adult experiences thus far is going to be a huge shift.
Will Trentseason 4will likely be taking some of the component of another character’s story from the books into consideration when it comes to Angie moving forward. WhileFaith Mitchell (Iantha Richardson) is already a single mother on the series, her motherhood is highlighted a bit more consistently in theWill Trentbook series, and may be passed to Angie next season.

She Could Find Herself A Single Mother
It seems possibleAngie may be headed down a path similar to Faith’s both on the show and in the books, especially regarding her pregnancy. While Foley should return toWill Trentseason 4, it’s possible other commitments will keep him from coming back in the necessary capacity. Taking from Faith’s story in the books, Angie could be primed for single motherhood.
If Angie does follow Faith’s trajectory in the books, something drastic could happen to Seth. At the end ofWill Trentseason 3, it seemed possible he could die with the various other characters hanging in the balance after an airborne chemical was released at the hospital. Will Trentcould be taking cues from Faith’s story in the books to build Angie’s future.
