Dept. Qmade a splash when it premiered on Netflix in May, and while its episodes may have been over too quickly, there is a new show that fans of the series should check out.Netflix has premiered some great crime dramasrecently, fromAdolescencetoMissing You, andDept. Qis certainly among that list.

Dept. Q’s charactersand the central mystery surrounding Merritt Lingard are intriguing from the outset. ByDept. Qseason 1’s ending, though, audiences are fully committed to the show’s lovably imperfect characters. The team’s numerous cold cases leave audiences wanting more, but while waiting for an announcement about season 2, audiences should watch a similar British crime show.

The British Crime Drama Received A Perfect Rating

There are a lot of great British crime shows, but even among those, not all of them can achieve a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes approval rating. The 2025 seriesCode of Silencestands out in this regard, having maintained its perfect approval rating since its May premiere. Luckily,Code of Silenceis now on BritBox for American audiences to enjoy.

LikeDept. Q, Code of Silenceis not a traditional detective show. The series centers on Alison Woods, a deaf woman working in the cafeteria of a police station, who is recruited by the station’s detectives to help them spy on a local gang who are plotting a big heist.

Because Alison is deaf, she learned the skill of lip-reading while growing up and can use that to track what the gang members are planning. Along the way, though, she becomes increasingly involved with one of the gang members, blurring the lines between the professional and personal.

LikeDept. Q, Code of Silencedoes a great job of keeping audiences hooked with smaller reveals that lead into a huge climax.

While the concepts ofDept. QandCode of Silencedo have their differences, they appeal to the same audience thanks to their similar tones and pacing. LikeDept. Q, Code of Silencedoes a great job of keeping audiences hooked with smaller reveals that lead into a huge climax.

Code Of Silence Was Already Renewed For Season 2

Audiences Will Get To See More Of Alison Woods

After an incredibly promising season 1,Code of Silencewas already renewed for season 2by the British network ITV. This renewal came less than two months after the show’s premiere, highlighting how strongly the network believes in the seriesand its potential for enduring popularity.

Code of Silenceseason 1 ended with a big opportunity for Alison, paving the way for a lot of potential cases in her future. What’s more, given how much praise the series has received, especially for lead actor Rose Ayling-Ellis,it will be great to see how the characters can grow in future investigations.

Code of Silenceseason 1 is now streaming on Britbox for American audiences and on ITVX for British audiences. Season 2 will also air on ITV for British audiences, with no word yet on when it could arrive on BritBox.

It will likely be some time beforeCode of Silencereturns to audiences' screens with new episodes. However, its popularity and quick renewal make me hopeful that Netflix may choose to do the same forDept. Q, especially given how well similar crime dramas have fared recently.
