TheFriendsstar, 54, shared a rare post to Instagram on Sunday as he posed for a heartwarming image with his father, John Bennett Perry.
“Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage,” Matthew appropriately captioned the pic.

In the image, theFriendsstar and his dad, 82, stood arm-in-arm with smiles on their faces as they both drank out of see-though glasses.
The upload marked Matthew’s second post since April, as just three days before heshared an imageof his lawn with the caption, “Why can Elon Musk send a woman to the moon and not be able to invent a silent leaf blower?”
John, 82, has appeared in several films himself as an actor, includingIndependence DayandGeorge of the Jungle, and even joined his son on screen inFools Rush Inin 1997.
He also appeared in an episode ofFriends. In the season 4 episodeThe One with Rachel’s New Dress, John played the father of Joshua, a man thatJennifer Aniston’s Rachel dated.
Last year, Matthew told PEOPLE in a cover story thathe was looking forwardto the idea of being a father some day.
“I think I’d be great. I really do,” he added of how he’d be as a father. “I grew up with a lot of little kids around me, and that’s probably why, but I can’t wait.”

Matthew also has another father figure in his life inDateline’s Keith Morrison, who married Matthew’s mother Suzanne in 1981. Morrison opened up about the relationship with his stepson in a2020 interview with PEOPLE.
“He’s one of those people who always is the center of the room for a reason and it was so as a kid,” Morrison said at the time. “On the hockey team, I used to take him off to his hockey games on Saturday mornings. It was like Matthew and the hockey team. He was the one who scored all the goals. He wastheguy. The same on the tennis court. He was extremely, extremely good on the tennis court and very intense.”
“He’s an intense, talented, focused character. He’s very bright. That was always the case as he was growing up.”
