Summary

A potential new teaser forMass Effect 4seems to confirm that the angara and geth will be back in the new game. BioWare first announced thenewMass Effectgame on N7 Day in 2020, following up that announcement with a brief trailer at The Game Awards that same year. A few details about the newMass Effectgame have been revealed since then, but BioWare has mostly kept its cards close to its chest.

SinceMass Effect 4was announced in 2020, BioWare has confirmed that the game is being built with Unreal Engine instead of Frostbite, and thatfan favorite asari Liara T’Soniwill have some kind of role to play. The first teaser trailer also seemingly confirmed that the newMass Effectwill take place in the Milky Way Galaxy, as opposed to the Andromeda Galaxy featured in 2017’sMass Effect: Andromeda.

The latest N7 Day saw BioWare release more potential teasers for the highly-anticipated next game in the popular sci-fi franchise. Most notably, BioWare released a briefMass Effectteaser trailerthat showed an unknown character walking. BioWare’s Michael Gamble also posted a newMass Effectposter that could potentially be teasing the return of the angaran and geth races. The poster shows aMass Effectcharacter mixed with a club scene. Zooming in on the scene, as Twitter user Lazare has done, seems to show a geth and angara mingling with a salarian, a human, and an asari.

It’s possible this poster means absolutely nothing. It’s also possible it could be hinting at what fans can expect from the newMass Effectgame. Depending on whichMass Effect 3endingone got, the geth shouldn’t necessarily be alive at all. As far as the angara go, they are native to the Andromeda Galaxy and shouldn’t be in the Milky Way. If this is a teaser for the newMass Effect, it could suggest that angara have made their way to the Milky Way and that theMass Effect 3endings where the geth survived are canon.

Answers about all ofMass Effect 4’s returning raceslikely won’t come for quite some time. BioWare’s next game isDragon Age: Dreadwolf, and unless the studio has a surpriseME4trailer to drop at The Game Awards, it’s likely fans won’t hear more substantial information about the game until 2024 or later.
