HBO Nordic shared an image on itsFacebook pageover the weekend , as part of HBO ’s “ Prepare For wintertime ” campaign to get fans to binge - determine the entire show over the next six weeks . The subject of the photo is a serial of kitchen knife hanging on the paries , except one of those things is not like the others : It ’s the Catspaw Dagger , a Valyrian steel weapon that has n’t been seen since season 1 . It could be unrelated to time of year 7 , of course , but that would make it the big and weird coincidence in the account of Westeros .

Catspaw is technically not the dagger ’s official name because it does n’t really have one . The name stems from the title given to the try killer in the books : Catspaw Assassin , a glorified footman who used the dagger to taste and kill Bran in the second episode of Game of Thrones . In the show , we have n’t found out who sent the assassinator … butin the leger , it ’s heavily implied Joffrey was behind it .
After the failed assassination effort , Catelyn Stark postulate the sword to King ’s landing place , confront it to Ned Stark as validation that the Lannisters tried to have their Logos toss off . Littlefinger tell Catelyn the dagger belonged to Tyrion ( though it was actually Robert Baratheon ’s ) , take Lady Stark to take Tyrion prisoner and intensify a difference between the two houses . The last time we saw it was onNed Stark ’s deskin the Tower of the Hand . Since then , it ’s unreadable where the dagger ended up — though many consider Littlefinger has it .

Given the fact that the Entertainment Weekly cover charge shows Arya with the dagger , and this kitchen simulacrum heavily implies a connection to some of Arya ’s latest kills ( murdering Walder Frey ’s Word and baking them in a Proto-Indo European ) , it ’s safe to assume that Arya ’s getting the sticker next season . So , does she get it from Littlefinger — and , if so , how ? Will he give it to her , or is Littlefinger totally getting murdered this time of year ? And if Arya is in possession of Valyrian steel , does that mean she ’ll wreak a bragging role in the warfare against the White Walkers , or is she just kick the bucket to utilize it to kill more hoi polloi on her list ?
