Hackers broke into the computer meshing of at least five U.S. banks include JPMorgan Chase and siphon off off gigabyte of data , which included checking and savings account information of 1000000 of customers , the New York Timesreports . Security expert are describing the attack as “ highly sophisticated ” .
The intrusions were firstreportedby Bloomberg , which said that the attacks were the employment of Russian hackers and theorized that the motivating might have been the low point in sexual intercourse between Russia and the West . But surety expert and government activity official order the Times they had not yet made that ending .
According to Bloomberg :

In one case , the hackers used a software flaw known as a zero - day exposure in one of the banks ’ websites . They then plough through layers of elaborate security to steal the data point , a feat security system expert said appear far beyond the capability of ordinary criminal hackers .
It ’s not clear which other bank have been affected yet . JPMorgan has said that despite the attacks , it has not seen any increase fraud levels . [ The New York Times ]
