Fortnitefans are donning their tinfoil hats to begin speculation as to what the future of the game’s battle royale mode will hold. Following the launch of season four,Fortnite’s map underwent a series of changes to better fit the season’s superhero theme, and we’re here to break down those changes and take a stab at what may be coming with season five.

Following the comet’s crash at Dusty Depot, fans have been scouring the map and finding more than just a big hole in the ground. Keen-eyed players actually found a supervillain lair equipped witha sizeable missile. This has sparked quite a discussion about the future of the iconic map.

Perhaps season five will kick off with a bang when the missile detonates. It could detonate on top of the hidden superhero hideout on the east side of the map. The detonation could lead to several interesting themes: including mutants changed by the radiation or post-apocalyptic gear.

Another notable change is the inclusion ofgreen screens and a new movie setat Moisty Mire. It’s unclear whether this inclusion is meant to tie into season four and the superhero theme, since superhero movies are incredibly popular, or if the set is meant to be the first clue for season five.

The green screens could also tie into the enormous footprint found near Snobby Shore, alluding to apossible dinosaur themecoming with season five. With the resurgence of theJurassic Parkfranchise, it’s entirely possible that Epic Games is planning an interesting dinosaur theme for the next season. While it may be a bit of a stretch, they could also be doing a kaiju themed event a laPacific RimorGodzilla, which would surely bring some amazing skins.

Regardless of what the theme for season five of Battle Royale will be, it will surely bring a ton of interesting cosmetics for fans to chase after, and some considerable map changes as well. It may even be a new map, depending on how destructive that missile really is.
