The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, 49, surpassedJeff Bezoson theBloomberg Billionaires IndexThursday, with a total net worth of $188.5 billion — $1.5 billion more than the net worth of the Amazon founder and CEO.

Rounding out the top five are Microsoft mogulBill Gatesat No. 3 with $132 billion, LVMH CEOBernard Arnaultat No. 4 with $114 billion and Facebook founder and CEOMark Zuckerbergat No. 5 with $99.9 billion.

Muskrespondedto the milestone moment on Twitter Thursday in response to a user who tweeted the news.

“How strange,” he wrote. “Well, back to work …”

Bloomberg reported back in November that Musk’s financial surge came as Tesla’s market share hit $500 billion, an all-time high for the electric automaker company.
