Rhythmic platformer flights of fancy set sights on console paradise

Eletronic Super Joyand itsGroove Cityexpansionhave done pretty well so far, but I can’t help but shake the feeling they could go farther. “Quirky and challenging platformer fatigue” is a problem for a lot of good games right now, especially on the platforms whereElectronic Super Joyis currently available. Maybe the move to Xbox One and Wii U will help it to find some new fans.

By a strange twist of fate, some Xbox One and Wii U owners may already be familiar with the game’s soundtrack. The rhythm action gameKickBeat: Special Editionfeatures a few songs fromElectronic Super Joy, weirdly scrunched between tracks by Marilyn Manson and various butt rockers. I likeKickbeat, but the soundtrack made it hard to go on sometimes. Those fewElectronic Super Joytracks were like little jubilant oases in a desert of mediocre aggression. Hopefully people will experience the full game in the same way.
