According to GameStop, the decision to rebrand came about as the result of feedback received from stockholders and customers. The move is one of a number of recent changes taking place at GameStop, which recently appointed its newest CEO, Matt Furlong. As high street stores continue to struggle amidst a changing retail environment and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, GameStop has been forced to closeover 1000 of its outletsover the past two years. 2021’s fascinating “Gamestonks” scenario only served to further complicate matters.
