On Saturday, the iconic singer revealed that her niece Brittani (who taught her how to use Twitter) introduced her to the rapper andCardi Bis happy about it.
“After today, I can confidently add ‘Cardi B’ to the list of people my niece has opened my eyes to. More on this tomorrow…,” the 80-year-old tweeted. Minutes later, she added, “Cardi Bis authentically herself 😂❤️. I have only seen video clips. No music yet. More on this tomorrow…”
The 28-year-old rap star seemed ecstatic to hear the news, quote tweeting Warwick’s comment with “OMGGGGG I STAN !!!!”
As promised, the following day, Warwick added, “I did not listen toCardi B’s music. Brittani sent me a video on the YouTube and a clip from her show where she dances with the very effervescent [choreographer] @msdebbieallen.”
On Sunday, the 5-time Grammy winner addedmore funto her string of tweets about the “WAP” rapper, this time referring to Cardi’s husbandOffset.
“I do have one question,” she wrote. “What does Offset mean?”
Many Twitter usersresponded with jokes of their own and Warwick soon added, “Is there also an Onset walking around somewhere?”
Warwick also took the time to defend the couple after she noticed “mean responses” about the two.
“It’s ok Miss Dionne I get it all the [time],” replied Cardi. “This new generation is wicked !”
“Keep being you!” wrote Warwick, before asking again what her husband’s stage moniker meant.
WhenWendy Williams, 56,attempted to mock Warwickfor using Twitter at her age last month, the singer had an apt response.
In December, Warwick’s niece Brittanispoke to PEOPLEabout her Aunt Dionne’s viral tweets and why Twitter was the perfect place for Warwick to express herself.
“Aunt Dionne is very much the kind of person that has quick inquisitive thoughts. She’ll tell you in a heartbeat that she’s nosy. She’s always wondering things,” Brittani said.
