Destiny 2‘s upcoming expansion,The Final Shape, is going to be a big one, and is already expected to bring major changes to the game. Fans have no doubt been eagerly awaiting for a full breakdown on what Bungie has in store for it and the answer is… a lot. In fact, Bungie has decided to put together three separate previews forThe Final Shapebecause there’s simply too many changes to cover all at once.
TheDestiny 2Team Twitter accountrecently explained how it’s preparing a preview article on abilities and armour tuning forThe Final Shape. However, it wound up coming at around a whopping 9,000 words, making it one of the largest articles Bungie has ever written forDestiny 2. Since that’s clearly too much to drop on players, Bungie is splitting it up.

We’ve been preparing a preview article for the abilities and armor tuning coming in The Final Shape. With so many changes to cover, this was one of the largest articles we’ve ever written at around 9k words. So, we’ve decided to split it up. Here is what to expect this week. 1/3
The first preview is dropping later today on May 22 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST, and will focus on ability tuning for all the Light and Darkness subclasses. The second preview, which is for Exotic Armour tuning, will drop at the same time on Thursday, May 23, and that will be followed an hour later by aThis Week in Destinyupdate at the usual time of 11 am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST. This all sounds rather overwhelming, but also very exciting, though some players will probably come away unhappy depending on what gets buffed or nerfed.

While there’s no telling how these previews will be received, early responses toThe Final Shapeseem overall positive. Thenew Prismatic subclassalone is worth being excited for, since it allows you to mix and match abilities from other subclasses, alongside anew and improved weapon enhancement system. Plus, after how rough things have been forDestiny 2in the last 12 months or so, includingthe layoffs within Bungie, things seem to have steadily improved consideringthe community has settled down as of late, probably thanks to thefreeInto the LightDLC.
However,The Final Shapeis no less an important milestone forDestiny 2since it will be concluding theLight and Darknessstory arc that began back in the firstDestiny. Even if it proves massively popular at launch, it will then need to maintain that popularity with a solid post-launch schedule of content and updates. As such, the future beyondThe Final Shapeis incredibly murky.
