Destiny 2has long employed in-game messages when an event first begins, but developer Bungie has plans to take that idea and push it further. Soon, players should regularly see messages that alert them to the various events and updates that have occurred inDestiny 2since last they played.
Bungie community manager dmg04 explained that players can expect more of these messages that pop up when logging in. At first, this may not seem much different from what usually appears inDestiny 2, but the example he tweeted contains information about what is happening in the normal cycle ofDestiny 2as opposed to special live events or the start of a new season.
Here, the message lets players know that next week Iron Banner is returning, the curse in the Dreaming City will be at its highest, as well as teasingthe start of Season of the Drifterin a few weeks.
Reactions online seem positive to this addition, as fans see it as a good way to inform current and returning players about what is happening and coming up in the game. It’s true that withDestiny 2’s weekly resetand its growing number of rituals and activities, it can be hard to keep track of what is happening. Communicating more clearly and highlighting certain activities in-game instead of just through Bungie’s external communications on its website and Twitter could be very helpful for players.
Some fans asked if Bungie could extend this feature even further and includepatch notesin the game as well instead of only having that information available on Bungie.net. Dmg04 said he couldn’t say “whether or not it’s possible” but that the feedback would be passed along to the developers.
Dmg04 didn’t specify when these messages would begin on a more regular cadence but expect them to become more frequent when signing intoDestiny 2.
