While Bungie had previously toldDestiny 2players that they would be able toboost their power in preparation for Joker’s Wildnext week, the developer did not detail specifically how that would work. But thanks to this week’s new ViDOC, which covered all things Season 6, we now know what Surge Bounties are and how they will quickly boostDestiny 2players’ power level.

As revealed in the8-minuteDestiny 2video, a Surge Bounty will have two very basic tasks for players to complete. Examples given include killing 50 enemies or completing a strike, nothing that should take longer than 10 minutes.

drifter bounty boost power level

More importantly, once a player completes the Surge Bounty they will receive two items at 640 power level. These items will be static so that they will fit the full gear set of a player’s arsenal (primary, secondary, power, and a full armor set) and no RNG reliance is required. Once all of the Surge Bounties are complete, players should be power level 640 and theirpowerful rewardsshould boost them from there.

Given how quickly they seemingly can be completed and the boost they offer, Surge Bounties are sure to be a hit with players that have lapsed onDestiny 2at any point. One of the majorcriticisms about the Black Armory DLCwas that players couldn’t access its content on Day 1 and now these Surge Bounties will ensure everyone can play the new content.

What isn’t clear, though, is whether these Surge Bounties are part of the Annual Pass/Joker’s Wild or if they will be available to allDestiny 2: Forsakenowners. Since the power level climb is less important to those without access to new/harder content, it wouldn’t be necessary but it would be a nice bonus.Destiny 2players will find out for sure when Season of the Drifter starts next week.

Destiny 2: Season of the Driftergoes live July 11, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
