Dairy Queen Is Discontinuing Cherry Cone Dip

Dairy Queenis bringing back one of its most beloved treats.

The ice cream chain confirmed with PEOPLE that the Cherry Cone Dip will be returning to the DQ menu after it wasdiscontinued last spring.

“We know our fans love the Cherry Dipped Cone, and we’re excited to bring this sweet offering back for a limited time at participating locations,” a representative for the brand said in a statement.

“Back in May, I announced that Cherry Cone Dip was being discontinued and replaced with Butterscotch and I knew a lot of people would be upset,” said Miranda, who’s a district manager at Dairy Queen locations in Michigan.

While the highly-anticipated return is imminent, according to the DQ employee, exactly when it’ll hit menus again is still uncertain.

“But due to popular demand, cherry is coming back. I can’t give an exact date because it depends on when the distributors get it in stock, but it was one of the best sellers in my location, which are in southeast Michigan, so I’ll be the first to let you guys know when I have it,” she added in the video.

Back in May when Dairy Queen announced the Cherry Cone Dip’s departure, they hinted that it could come back one day.

“DQ is always rotating our dipped cone flavors and Cherry Dipped Cones may return in the future. Fans should check with their local DQ restaurant to learn which flavors are available,” a statement read.

“Guess I will find a new ice cream place. Our options are chocolate, butterscotch and churro?” one user wrote. Another simply said, “I am so sad.”

The post, which garnered almost 300,000 likes, brought to light how beloved the cone dip flavor is among customers. “It’s honestly the only thing I get, so no more dairy queen for me…” another commenter wrote.

In February, the ice cream chain revealed that their newest flavor for spring is the Confetti Cake Dipped Cone. It’s made with the brand’s creamy soft serve and dipped in a rainbow confetti cake-flavored “cone coating filled with confetti pieces,” per a release.

Miranda also shared the news of the confetti flavor with her TikTok followers. Compared to previous flavors likechurroandDreamsicleflavor, she said this year’s treat is her “favorite of them all” because it tastes “just like a funfetti cupcake.”
